Between Cabo Verde and Geneva, a path built on trust.
Glow Advisory is an international health insurance brokerage founded by Joelma Freire in 2019, the year her independent practice became her own name.

A trajectory that bridges three worlds.
I was born in Cabo Verde and grew up between the archipelago and Portugal. At 18, I left for Europe, carrying with me the cultural fluency of two continents, and the quiet confidence that comes from navigating between them.
Years later, Geneva became the stage where these two languages, African and European, could finally meet a third: the language of international institutions.
I didn’t plan to build a bridge. But clients who work across borders recognised, early on, that I was already one.
Why Glow Advisory exists.
I started in insurance in 2006. For more than a decade, I built my own client portfolio while working with brokerage firms and insurance companies, managing every file, every renewal, every difficult claim. My clients knew me, not the company behind me.
By 2019, it became clear: my clients deserved a single point of responsibility, and I deserved to carry my own name. I signed my first major institutional client that same year. That was the day Glow Advisory quietly became a reality.
When I transitioned to independence, my clients came with me. Not because of a contract, but because of a relationship.
What I believe about this work.
Health insurance, at its best, is invisible. A solid contract, a responsive claim, a family protected across borders: these things should simply work. When they don’t, someone needs to step in. Patiently. Precisely. Persistently.
That’s what I do. Not as a seller of policies, but as an advisor who reads every clause, questions every denial, and stays available long after the signature.
My clients don’t choose me for the companies I represent. They choose me for what happens after the contract is signed.
The next chapter.
For several years, I chose to focus on the quality of service to existing clients rather than on rapid expansion. That was a deliberate choice, and it shaped the practice Glow Advisory has become today.
I am now entering a new phase: opening the practice to diplomatic missions, international organisations, and institutional clients who value the same principles I’ve built my work on. Availability. Precision. Continuity.
Geneva is my base. International institutions are my daily partners. And across languages and cultures, I serve the diverse missions that call Geneva home.
If that resonates with your institution, let’s talk.
